COVID-19 Update

We are living through unprecedented times, and following on the Government announcements on 23 March 2020, it is important that we communicate with our clients to provide them with as much information as possible about any issues specifically relating to COVID-19 which may impact on the delivery of our services.

The health and safety of our team at Freelands and of our clients and their families is of paramount importance to us. At the same time, notwithstanding the challenging circumstances, our intention is to try and ensure that we provide you with the legal services you require, and to the high standard we are accustomed to delivering, or as close to that as possible under the circumstances.

Thus from 24 March 2020, there will only be skeleton staff at our offices who will deal with all the post and other related matters which it is impossible to deal with remotely. Other staff will work from home and will deal with everything as they usually do, and in a fashion as near as possible to normal.

All phone calls and emails will be attended and communications dealt with, hopefully, with minimal disruption. Please however do bear with us should issues arise during the transition from office-based to remote working.

Should you need to then please do contact the person dealing with your transaction as you would normally. For the time being, and until further notice, however, we would recommend that contact is made by email to the appropriate person within our organisation.

Also, until further notice, all meetings in person and visits to our offices are suspended. We will however be able to conduct business where appropriate via video conferencing. These arrangements can continue whilst our people work from home. Should there be anything else we can practically do to assist then do please say.

If we are acting for you presently in a conveyancing transaction, we will provide you with appropriate updates as soon as we have them - particularly if there is an imminent completion date. We will advise you immediately if we become aware of any issues specifically relating to COVID-19 which may impact on our legal and/or practical ability to settle your transaction, and we will be liaising continually with the solicitors acting for the party on the other side of your transaction to establish, as early as possible, whether they anticipate any such COVID-19 issues impacting on them or their clients.

As far as we are able it will be “business as usual” across all of our practice areas, and available to provide advice and legal support throughout the turbulent times ahead.

We are monitoring all updates to UK Government and Scottish Government policy and guidance, and we will provide further updates as appropriate.

Under these exceptional circumstances we appreciate your patience and understanding. If however you have any transaction specific queries, again please email the person within an organisation responsible for the matter and they will revert to you as soon as possible.

This crisis will pass, and we will all get back to normal sometime soon. Meanwhile, stay safe, stay in, and look after your families and loved ones.
